Joan Smalls

Joan Smalls is currently ranked #5 on Models.com's Top 50 list. Born in 1988 in Puerto Rico, she turns 23 this year.

In 2007, Joan signed with Elite Model Management and modeled for the Tory Burch presentation soon after. She quickly got more work with Liz Claiborne and Nordstrom. She appeared in Ricky Martin's "It's Alright" music video in February 2008. In 2009, she left Elite and signed with IMG. She made her breakthrough after that where she was an exclusive in the Givenchy couture show in Paris. Soon, she was walking for Anna Sui, Gucci, Prada, and Valentino in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. She was then appearing in Italian, American, German, and French Vogue editorials and became the face of Gucci.

NY Mag notes Joan for her pout and her legs.

So where may you have seen Joan lately? She is in the S/S 2011 advertisements for Estee Lauder and Gucci and was in American Vogue editorials in February, March, April, and June.

How you can achieve her style:

In this street style photo of Joan from Paris Fashion Week, she takes a denim vest with a long dress and accessorizes with Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.

My finds:

1. Insight Vandalized Denim Vest, Urban Outfitters, $79
2. Woodblock Artist Dress, ModCloth, $49.99
3. Beats by Dr. Dre Monster Solo Over-the-Ear Headphones, Best Buy, $199.99
Note: I'd normally find a more inexpensive option, but these headphones are the cream of the crop! I've used them personally and they're very comfortable, have perfect noise canceling technology, have clear sound, and are very stylish!

Total: $328.98
